A Passion for Helping People Heal

I have a love of and passion for helping others become their healthiest, best selves. I see and honor each patient as a whole and healthy human being and work with each of them to find the right treatment plan for their complete healing.

I have been accompanying patients on their own unique healing journeys since 2008 when I earned a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. I was fortunate to train with some of the best instructors and practitioners in the country, receiving more than 1,000 hours of clinical training in the school acupuncture clinic, herbal pharmacy and at the UCSD Free Clinic for seniors.

My Background

I was raised in the suburbs of Houston, Texas during the idyllic 1970s. My love of healthy foods came from my mother who taught me how to bake and cook with fresh ingredients and the most important ingredient,--love. From my father came my love of nature. I have great memories of how he taught me how to catch a Colorado rainbow trout and traveled with me to explore the Olympic Mountains. Dad also had a green thumb and could grow award-winning roses in any climate. These warm childhood memories hold the early seeds of my work today.

The Journey West to
a Career in Healing

On a family vacation to visit relatives, I fell in love with the Pacific Ocean as we took the iconic drive up the Coast Highway 1 from Oxnard to Santa Barbara. After college I made my way from Houston to Seattle and embarked on my first foray into healthcare as an administrative assistant at a medical center.

My introduction to acupuncture came when I saw a co-worker was using a fan at her desk. She explained that her hot flashes had come back because she had missed her acupuncture appointment. I decided to try acupuncture and Chinese herbs myself and got great results for some hormonal imbalances as well as welcome support for the emotional and spiritual transitions I was going through at the time. I also changed to a gluten and dairy free diet and began practicing yoga.

After a decade of enduring the gray skies of Washington, I decided to make my way south to my favorite state, sunshine, and the Pacific Ocean. It was here in San Diego while walking in a canyon that I received a message from a hummingbird. This intelligence informed me that it was now my turn to become a healer and that my modality was to be Chinese Medicine which is based on the five elements of nature and which considers food to be medicine. It was then that I began a serious study of acupuncture, knowing that a career using these ancient teachings would allow me to combine both my love of nature and food. This new vocation was a great fit.

I welcome the opportunity to learn about you and discuss how the ancient teachings of Chinese medicine can enhance your life just as they have enhanced mine.
